Azurite Sun on kaolinite clay (Australia)

Mineral specimens often surprise us and this specimen is no exception. This Azurite forms as discoidal plates referred to as “Suns” composed of numerous fine multi-layered flat crystals of Azurite arranged in radial and concentric growths that occupy planar features such as bedding planes and joints in white kaolinite. From the Malbunka Mine within the Ltalaltuma Aboriginal Land Trust in the Northern Territory Australia. Each piece found on our web site has been hand selected for quality and rarity. Our physical store located in Sandpoint Idaho contains hundreds of unique and rare specimens.
